Every day at ALS Hiroo is a day where everyone gets to learn and try new things.
The month of November is a harvest month, and across the globe, different cultures express gratitude and thankfulness for the harvest in different ways.
This week, we had a special thematic lesson that taught us about traditional American Thanksgiving foods, helped us develop our literacy skills, and encouraged us to search for things on our own!

今週は特別テーマレッスンとして、アメリカのサンクスギビングの料理について学びました。
お子様たちはリテラシースキル（文字の読み書きに必要な能力）を育みながら、自ら考え、探求する姿勢を身につけています。
We started by reviewing the letters that we need to know for the lesson by using our eyes, ears, voices, and hands!
Using a variety of senses and activities to learn helps the students stay active, engaged, and motivated as we learn, as well as gives everyone the opportunity to express themselves and show in which ways they love to learn the most!
After reviewing our letters, the students are excited to see what comes next and enjoy getting to learn the names of foods that they then get to hold in their hands.
The last step before starting to play more in the lesson is giving the students the chance to guess which letter goes with which food.
レッスンは、目・耳・声・手を使って文字の復習からスタートしました。
五感を使って学ぶことで、お子様たちはアクティブに、集中して、楽しみながら学ぶことができ、自分が一番好きな学び方を発見することもできます。
文字の復習の後は、お子様たちは次に何が待っているかワクワク。
実際に手に取れる食べ物の名前を学びながら、どの文字がどの食べ物に対応するかを予想する時間もあり、楽しみながら学ぶ姿が見られました。
Now it’s time to have some structured fun!
The students are excited to find out which letter they have to search for.
As they look for the right letter, the teachers give them guidance and encouragement, and once they have the right letter, they get the reward of having their letter stuck to the food, just like the teacher’s model!
The students all enjoy the challenge of looking for the right letter and offer to help each other as well, building strong bonds and fun memories while learning new words and strengthening the connections between letters, sounds, and new words!

お子様たちは、自分が探す文字を見つけるのを楽しみにしています。
先生たちは、探すときに手伝ったり励ましたりします。
正しい文字を見つけると、先生のお手本のように文字を食べ物に貼ることができます。
みんなで文字を見つけるチャレンジを楽しみながら、お互いに助け合う姿も見られます。
この活動を通して、友達との絆を深め、楽しい思い出を作りながら、新しい単語を学び、文字・音・言葉のつながりをしっかり身につけています。
